Department of National Defense/National Air Force Museum of Canada

This week’s issue has a gorgeous front page photo of the Royal Canadian Air Force Lancaster KB 882 (active 1944-64) in full flight over Edmunston, New Brunswick. The historic bomber arrived at Base31 this week, shipped on five flatbed trucks. It will be restored and showcased in Hangar 1.

As if this were not enough news for today, the Lancaster KB 882 will form the first installation in a new museum, to open at the Base in 2025. The museum will document the role of Camp Picton in the community, the nation, and the theatres of WWII.

This collaborative initiative might be only the beginning of a major renaissance, transforming Prince Edward County into a destination in world history. This is a story we will be following!

Our feature coverage has all the places and events. Maple Madness is ongoing every weekend in March, while Maple in the County runs this weekend.

This week’s editorial considers planets aligning in the County, as well as in the universe.

Not only are passes and tickets for the Books on Film spring series now on sale, you can purchase online at the Gazette webpage here.
