Ever thought you’d like to try the flower competition, or the photography contest, or maybe compete with your best baking at the Picton Fall Fair? This week the Gazette is proud to have partnered with the Agricultural Society to offer a 16-page Fair Book well in advance of September. In a surprise move, the Hub pulls out of negotiations to create a new 24-spot pre-school daycare at the County-owned Athol Town Hall. Despite having unanimous Council support, and funding for the required upgrades.

The Weekend Ticket

The Lavender Festival continues all weekend, July 13 and 14. The County Garden Club Garden Tour starts Sunday 14 July at 10am. The Music at Port Milford opening concert is called Beginnings, and celebrates childhood and early compositions. With resident artists, Saturday 13 July at 7:30pm. Biglake Arts Fundraiser Concert in the Barn is Sunday 14 July at 2pm. Hawksley Workman is at the Sergeants Mess Hall Friday July 12 and The Strumbellas play the Drill Hall on Saturday 13th. Spice Queens Drag and Dance Party Extravaganza at the Hayloft Friday July 12th at 7:30pm.
