Picton Gazette Express Vol. 1 No. 27
The combination on display in Edward Shubert’s shadowbox of an accomplished work of art, here inspired by the artist Mark Rothko, hard practical work, and a shared vision requiring many hands reminded us of the County. This week’s editorial, Ensemble, considers our new film festival, a study released by County Arts, the rich arts, music and theatre culture already here, developments at Base31, and a cross-County culture of collaboration.
Picton’s mainstay florist marks nearly a half century of Flowers by Marvin, making him the longest- tenured merchant on Main Street. After a half dozen different locations throughout Picton, Mr. Chapman settled into his shop at 80 Main Street, where he has provided “womb to tomb” floral services for 11 years.
The County is about to add four more beautiful properties to its Designated list. Above, the beautiful Simpson/Mallory house in Bloomfield, which dates to the 1860s.
