Picton Terminals says it’s developing a new agricultural port, with silos and receiving buildings, at its site on Picton Bay. The County says it has not seen a building permit.

New roads, new neighbourhoods, new boardwalk, new schools, new shops, new barracks, new Drill Hall, new museum, new parks, new historic hotel, new hospital, new jobs — all the things development and people and vitality bring. Bring them on. Enough of this muddled, fear-addled, rejection of the future. That’s a dead end. The road to nowhere.

The Weekend Ticket
The Biglake Festival opening night is Friday 23 August at 7pm with Evolution of the Piano at the Wellington Music Hall. Events through August 31.
The big ticket this weekend is the traditional opening concert of the of the Prince Edward County Chamber Music Festival, which runs through September 22. The Hannford Street Silver Band performs at Macaulay Heritage Park in Picton on Sunday at 2pm. Free and open to all.
County Kids Read celebrates 15 years with a party in Benson Park Saturday at 10-12pm.
Julie Seddon opens her art studio, 25 Johnson Street, Picton, on Sunday from 12-6pm.
The Rock the County Music Festival runs all weekend at Base31, from noon to 11pm on Friday and Saturday. The Trews and Matt Mays play Friday, the Glorious Suns on Saturday.
