Picton Fall Fair Program Issue
Myla Koopmans with a prized calf at last year’s Picton Fair. This week’s print edition features program highlights.
It was the meeting to end all meetings. A standing-room-only crowd in Highline Hall, and more in an overflow room. Nine deputations. Additional comments from the audience. A police patrol. And then the discussion began.
In Dream Jobs, we feature a lively interview with Allison Leavitt, of Station 1 in Picton, in support of Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue’s volunteer recruitment initiative this month. Ms. Leavitt is one of just six women firefighters on the force — and 144 men. She’d love some company.

The 21st Chamber Music Festival in Prince Edward County launches on Friday 13 September with Jonathan Crow, Juan-Miguel Hernandez and Cameron Crozman performing Bach’s Goldberg Variations. The Gazette’s Chris Fanning speaks with the Festival’s departing Director, Jonathan Crow.
A roundup of reflections on the beloved festival.
